Description

Over the past 50 years, dental implants have evolved into a very straightforward treatment option for replacing missing or damaged teeth. But the ongoing development of implant therapy constantly reveals examples of how the quality and quantity of periimplant soft tissues are the key elements when it comes to achieving top results. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, there is growing scientific evidence of the high incidence of biological complications in the form of periimplant mucositis and periimplantitis. Another key factor is that although the periodontium of natural teeth seems very similar to periimplant tissues, the significant differences between the two must be carefully considered from different aspects. Furthermore, natural and harmonious results around dental implants located in the esthetic area calls for the preservation – and sometimes, the reconstruction – of soft tissue. This 2-day practical workshop, therefore, goes deep into the details of contemporary clinical concepts with regard to the handling and reconstruction of the soft tissue surrounding implants. Alongside the theoretical and practical fundaments of these key elements, the most innovative strategies will be covered and debated extensively with the aim of offering participants the knowledge required to apply implant therapy for successful outcomes that is not only compatible with biological and aesthetic factors, but which also achieves long-term stability. To this end, participants will carry out, a series of practical exercises with the aid of magnifying lenses and under the careful supervision of Dr. Otto Zuhr.
